Out | Little Bird By Jools SS18

Thursday 7th December

For the first time in a long while, we were unable to attend the official Mothercare Press Release in November as we were at Disney, but being in France did not stop me from scouring Instagram and Facebook to get a first glimpse at the forthcoming Little Bird By Jools. Despite finding a few photos, I couldn't wait until January to see the rest so we popped into Mothercare HO to get our very own sneaky peak at the Spring 18 collection and we couldn't not share it with you all too.

The most exciting thing for me this season has to be the bedsheets - not only are they in one of my all time favourite prints, this time they are being released in cotbed and single bed sizes which means both of my babies can have a set. I am also slightly obsessed with the new vintage style dressing rail (which you can view on the Mothercare App) and cannot wait to start updating the kids room once we've managed to get Ted evicted from ours.

The newborn collection has been stripped back this season which on initial glances I loved as it reminded me of the original Little Bird nursery set but have now realised it is maybe a little bit young for my boy who will still fit into this side of the range at time of release but is maybe suited to younger babies. This time last year I'd have bought one of everything but I can't buy white for my little terror anymore! I am feeling lost as to what to dress him in without any jazzy leggings this season but the jersey dungaree set is made for him. With lots being the perfect gift for any new bundle though, I am so excited to share the incredible baby book, gifting bag, boxes and tissue and the 5 pack of cards (which are most definitely being framed here!) so we can share the LB love even more beautifully.

As always, the main line of clothing is based on the designs we all know and adore and as per usual, I have a very large list of must-haves including the denim dress, ribbed polo neck and rainbow sweatshirt but I do feel there is a larger gap between the 'boys' and 'girls' pieces this time around and feel the collection as a whole is missing the all important boy/girl and child/baby twinning opportunities (I know mumsyideas will probably change my opinion on that though!). That being said, the attention to detail in the girls pieces this spring has blown me away with the embroidered tee and denim skirt taking me right back to my own childhood wardrobe and the new knee high socks being even better than the original set.

What are you loving about the new Little Bird? Once again, I am so proud of how this amazing team have managed to grow my favourite brand to become even bigger and better than ever before.
